History of Martha Tilaar Spa: How It All Started
Martha Tilaar is a prominent Indonesian woman entrepreneur -- the owner and president director of Martha Tilaar Group, a corporation consisting of three companies in the manufacturing division, one in national distribution and international trade division, three in marketing division, and one company in service division. Her 1500 items of cosmetics have been produced in four different factories employing over 5000 employees, sold mainly in Indonesia, but also to a good number of other countries in Asia, Europe, Africa and North America. The company's turnover of the business has reached around five hundred billion rupiahs in 2002.

In her endless search for new ideas in her business to offer to women, Martha Tilaar observed that with the modern lifestyle of today, more and more people are under stress and are acutely aware of it. However, today's lifestyle was also quite conducive to propel the desire and quest for a healthier, more relaxed, and happier being.

Hence everyone was then looking for the fountain of health and youth, and Martha Tilaar saw the potential of the spa experience as an opportunity to stay healthy and happy. The spa (which means Solus per Aqua, or health by water) readily lent itself as a solution to the modern and future lifestyle problems.

With the desire to offer "The Authentic Indonesia Spa Experiences" only the best experience for her customers, Martha Tilaar found a unique concept for her spa, a holistic approach using centuries-old eastern traditions of health and beauty throughout the human lifecycle. All in one Concept The "Power Five" :

1. Go Global
2. Indonesian Concept
3. Empowering Women
4. Innovation
5. Modern - Tradition to Lifestyle
